My love for Edgar Allan Poe came in the 9th grade.  I have always been good in English, but my 9th grade teacher introduced me to Poe and I was immediately drawn to his writing.  I love the horror genre, so his stories became some of my favorites.  In my 9th grade class, we read The Tell Tale Heart and I knew from that moment that Poe would always be a favorite of mine, as that is my all time favorite story.  It's gripping and leaves you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
