In this class, you will be learning LINCS and TOWER.  Both are strategies that will help you in passing the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam). The LINCS strategy is a vocabulary strategy designed to help in comprehension.  The TOWER strategy is designed to aid in the writing process.  It focuses on organization, outlines, and more successful writing.

For the next essay, you will do the following:
  • research any topic for which you have interest and bookmark that site (must be reputable)
  • find one article on Sirs (Atwater Library Site) and bookmark that article
  • You will need to write out 20 facts. (10 facts from each article)
  • Code your facts
  • put all coded information on your Tower Diagram (subtopics and details)
  • create a thesis statement. Write out on Diagram
  • What's your introduction hook? (story, question, quote, etc) Write out on Diagram
  • What is your concluding hook/option? (Opinion, moral, caution, suggestion) Write out on Diagram
  • What will you use for a clincher sentence/concluding detail (quote, questions, final thoughts) write out on Diagram
  • Begin writing! Follow the Tower format!  You will be graded on whether you followed the necessary steps.
